David Hackett taking branch samples from the Snake Bark Tree opposite the Berkeley Library. The initial sample (image on the left) was not suitable as the branch was old and most of the lenticles were not functioning. Hence David set about cutting a section from a younger branch (image on the right).
Snake Bark Tree, Acer capillipes (Tree no. 293). Opposite Berkeley Library
Of interest: bark patterns and lovely oblong/ slit-like lenticles (breathing holes).
