Hamburg Trees

Some really interesting trees I saw on a recent trip to Hamburg. They are situated in front of the Rathaus in the city centre.

I asked David Hackett today if the nodules were as a result of a disease at the end of the branches.  He told me that the unusual lumps were as a result of ‘hard pruning’.   David mentioned that this type of pruning can be found on trees behind the Four Courts in Dublin.
